How to Make Your Own Homemade Cereal

Method 1 Method 1 of 2: Making Granola

Granola is a baked cereal that takes a little longer to make than muesli, but will result in a crunchy, versatile treat that you can eat with milk or sprinkle on yogurt or ice cream.

  1. 1 Preheat your oven to 250 °F (120 °C).
  2. 2 Mix the nuts, oats, coconut, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly to ensure that there are no clumps of the same ingredient.
  3. 3 In a different bowl, mix the maple syrup (or honey), oil, and salt.
  4. 4 Pour the syrup mixture into the oats mixture. Combine well.
  5. 5 Spread the mixture into two shallow pans. Place in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  6. 6 Stir the mixture every 15 minutes. To help it brown evenly.
  7. 7 Take the granola out of the oven. Pour it into a large bowl and allow it to cool. Add raisins (or your dried fruit of choice) and combine until the fruit is evenly mixed into the granola.
  8. 8 Place in an airtight container. It should keep for 2-3 weeks.
Method 2 Method 2 of 2: Making Muesli

Muesli is a chewy variety of cereal that tastes best with cold milk or mixed into yogurt.

  1. 1 Mix the oats, wheat germ, wheat bran, oat bran, raisins (or dried fruit), nuts, sugar, and seeds in a large bowl.
  2. 2 Combine all the ingredients and store in an airtight container. It will keep for 4-6 weeks in an airtight container.
  3. 3 Finished.
